DLNA vs UPnP in Digital Home | What is DLNA certified in Digital Living ?

DLNA and UPnP both are Digital Home interoperability network for PC, Laptop, Tablets, Smartphones and Consumer Electronics. In the past few years especially last two years the home networking and digital sharing inside home became very essential and popular. The Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) was initiated to address the issues and produce a globally accepted vendor independent guideline for manufacturers for Digital Home Interoperability. Basically this concept was originated and developed by UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) in 1999 with 14 Major Manufacturers. UPnP is a TCP/IP based development for Network Connectivity by using HTTP, HTML, XMP and SOAP to discover devices, device control and service description and Presentation. This was the foundation for DLNA which was formed in 2003 initially with 21 companies. DLNA standardised the interoperability in Digital Home and provides Certification for Manufacturers if they comply DLNA standards. Most devices are marked as DLNA certified which means independent of manufacturer it will interoperate in home networking.
