Difference Between Intel Core Mobile Processors Core i3 and Core i5
Intel Core Mobile Processors Core i3 vs Core i5
Intel Core i3 Mobile and Intel Core i5 Mobile are category of Intel processors for laptops. i3 Mobile and i5 Mobile processors are basically mobile version of desktop Westmere products. The core i3 category has 300 series and 2300 series processors ranging from 1.2 GHz to 2.66 GHz based on Arrandale Architecture and Sandy Bridge Architecture. Whereas Core i5 category has 400 series, 500 series and 2500 series processors in Sandy Bridge Architecture.
Intel Core i3 Mobile Processors (i3 Core 2300 series vs i3 Core 300 series)
Core i3 processors range from 1.2 to 2.66 GHz in different series. Basically i3 has 300 series and 2300 series processors. Core i3 has 390M (2.66), 380UM (1.33), 380M (2.53), 370M (2.4), 350M (2.26), 330UM (1.2), 330M (2.13), 330E (2.13) in 300 series and 2310 E (2.10) in 2300 series. Basic difference between 300 series and 2300 series processors is 300 series designs are on Arrandale Architecture and 2300 series design is based on Sandy Bridge Architecture.
Intel Core i5 Mobile Processors (i5 Core 2500 series vs i5 Core 500 series vs i5 Core 400 series)
Core i5 processors range from 1.06 to 2.6 GHz in different series. I5 has 300 series, 400 series and 2500 series. Core i5 2500 series has 2540M(2.6),2537M(1.4),2520M(2.5),2515E(2.5),2510E(2.5) and 500 series has 580M(2.66), 560UM(1.33), 560M(2.66), 540UM(1.2), 540M(2.53), 520UM(1.06), 520M(2.4) and 520E(2.4) and 400 series i5 has 480M(2.66), 470UM(1.33), 460M(2.53), 450M(2.4), 430UM(1.2) and 430M(2.26).
The main difference between 400 series, 500 series and 2500 series i5 core processors is 400,500 series are based on Arrandale Architecture and 2500 series designed on Sandy Bridge Architecture.
Difference Between i3 and i5 core processors (1)2500 series i5 and 2300 series i3 are based on Sandy Bridge Design and other series from both categories are from Arrandale design. (2) intel Core i5 is built in with Turbo Boost Technology that automatically increases the speed depending on need whereas i3 doesn’t support for Turbo Boost Technology. |
